Jeanie Gilbertson Obituary

Jeanine “Jeanie” Ann Gilbertson, age 68 of Hollandale died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family.  She was born on August 25, 1950 in Monroe to Floyd DuWayne and Doris Berniece (Johnson) Hermanson.  She grew up in rural Blanchardville on the family farm until she was around 14 when the family moved into Blanchardville.  In her early schooling she went to the Loyalty Country School, and then graduated from the Blanchardville High School as the class valedictorian in 1968.  She worked in the Cheese making industry in Monroe, and was married to Keith Gilbertson on October 11, 1969 at the Argyle Lutheran Church.   After they were married she worked at Trumpy Cheese in Blanchardville until the birth of their daughter Brenda when she joined Keith in the family whitewashing business.  They continued operating Gilbertson Whitewashing until 1996.  She also worked full time at Lands' End from 1987-2013 and H&R Block from 1987-2018.   She was a past member of the Adams Lutheran Church where she grew up.  She was an Enrolled Agent with the IRS for her tax work.  She loved reading, owning over 500 paperback books; bowling, was on many bowling State teams over 20 years; and taking trips with her bowling team and H&R Block friends. Her favorite trip was to Las Vegas.  She enjoyed gambling, and loved raising her children, and grandchildren.  Her daughters inherited her hard work ethic.  She spent a lot of time at family get-togethers, sitting on porches with the family and playing card games.

Jeanie is survived by four daughters, Irene (Terry) Cooper of Reedsburg, Sara (Todd) Ihm of Hollandale, Brenda Gilbertson of Sun Prairie, and Morgan Gilbertson of Madison; six grandchildren, Alex and Ian Cooper, Shanika and Keiley Perdue, Samantha and Zachary Ihm; her mother, Doris Hermanson of Blanchardville; four sisters, Linda (Ron) Hanson of Argyle, Kathy Gilbertson of Blanchardville, Karen (Scott) Ingwell of Cartersville Georgia, and Joni Hermanson (Jeff Pefley) of Dodgeville; one brother, Alan (Cindy) Hermanson of Monroe; in-laws, Larry (Gloria) Gilbertson of Argyle, and Cynthia Gilbertson of Madison.  She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd who died in 1996; her son Wesley who died in 1996; and her husband Keith who died in 2001. Further preceded by her in-laws, Myrto and Stella Gilbertson, sister-in-law, Carolyn Wood, and brother-in-law Ted Gilbertson.
