Joshua James Boyle, age 34 of Blanchardville, formerly of Newark, California, died on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at his home in Madison following a long battle with depression and alcoholism. He was born on October 1, 1984 in Madison to John & Myong Boyle. He grew up in Darlington until he was 5 when he moved to Newark, California. He attended school and graduated from High School in Newark. He became active and skilled in Tae Kwon Do, starting when he was 7 years old, and eventually achieving Black Belt. In his later high school years he also taught Tae Kwon Do. He graduated from the Hayward Technical College in California, studying to be a surgical technician. In February of 2011 he joined the United States Navy where he furthered his work as a medical technician. He served in San Diego until February of 2016. He moved back to Wisconsin, living in Blanchardville and later Madison and working at the VA Hospital. Josh loved movies, action and superhero movies, and also loved computer gaming. He loved spending time with his niece Ila.
Josh is survived by his mother, Myong (George) Pacht of Newark, California; his father John Boyle of Blanchardville; step mother, Mary Kay Boyle; his sister, Tracie (Korey) Ace of Mount Horeb; brother, Billy Pacht of Newark, California; niece Ila Ace; step-grandfather, Francis Kliebenstein; a special friend, Marlee Caballes; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Mary Jane Boyle; maternal grandparents, Choe Tok Nam & Kim Kwi Ye; step-grandmother, Dorothy Kliebenstein; and step-grandparents, William & Vivian Pacht.
A celebration of Josh’s life will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Blanchard Hall, at 206 South Main Street in Blanchardville. A service celebrating his life will follow at 1:00 PM. Rev Smooth Detter will officiate. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
