Marie Peterson

     Marie  Peterson, age 93 of Blanchardville died on Friday morning, June 14, 2019 at the Uplands Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Dodgeville.  She was born on October 30, 1925 in Green county, WI, the daughter of Adolf & Marie (Amacher) Marty.  She attended the Moscow Center rural school.

     Marie married Amos L. Peterson on July 15, 1943 at the Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville.  She lived in the Hollandale area, farmed with her husband Amos for 37 years, and moved to Blanchardville in 1982.  She was a member of Perry Lutheran Church and Women of the ELCA Clay Hill Circle, Hollandale American Legion Auxiliary #510 since 1947 of which she was a past president, Life member of DAV Auxiliary chapter 67 and VFW Auxiliary 10395.

     Marie is survived by four daughters, Evelyn (Tom) Weier of Mineral Point, Sherry (Philip) Schadler of Mazomanie, Jane (Dean) Whitish of Hollandale, and Cindy (John) Johnson of Blanchardville; three sons, Terry Peterson of Blanchardville, Jerry “Pete” Peterson of  Hollandale, and Stanley (Robin) Peterson of Mineral Point; her three youngest sisters, Dorothy (Duane) Skaar of Deerfield, Shirley Gust of Verona, and Helen Kirch of Ridgeway; 22 grandchildren, Sheila Raimer, Jody Goodell, Anita Geib, Lucas Peterson, Travis Schadler, Trygve Schadler, Chelsey Hanson, Courtney Hase, Carissa Peterson, Brian Peterson, Billy Peterson, Bernhardt Peterson Jr, Anna Peterson, Jenifer Watters, Nicholas Watters, Kimberly Zimmer, Jason Whitish, Timothy Peterson, Keven Peterson, Michael Peterson, Jeremiah Johnson, and Joshua Johnson; 54 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Grace Peterson of Mount Horeb; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Peterson of Beaver Dam. 

     Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Amos who died on May 18, 2016; her son Ben Peterson who died on June 26, 1998; a granddaughter Jerica Peterson who died on March 13, 2018; a grandson Jerome Peterson who died on August 4, 2018; a brother Walter Marty; and four sisters, Ann Olson, Ruth Hendrickson, Wilma Shumate and Betty Kuhls.

     A visitation for Marie Peterson will be held on Wednesday, June 19th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, Friends may also call at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 Thursday, June 20th.  Rev. Kelli Fisher of that church will officiate.  Burial will be in the Perry Lutheran Cemetery.  Saether Funeral Service in Blanchardville is assisting the family.  Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at saetherfuneralservice.com.
