Bernard "Buzz" Larson

Bernard "Buzz" Laverne Larson, age 87 of Hollandale, died on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at his home in rural Hollandale. He was born on October 25, 1923 in the Town of Brigham in Barneveld, Wisconsin, the son of Lewis and Pearl (Owens) Larson. He attended Barneveld schools. He served in the US Army for over 6 years during World War II as a paratrooper and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Bernard was married on May 27, 1947 to Wanda Furgalowna in Frankfort, Germany. He lived in Hollandale and worked as an electrician. His hobby was beekeeping, and he loved going to auctions. He was a member of the Hollandale Olaf Martinson American Legion post.

Bernard is survived by a brother, Owen (Delma) Larson of Mt. Horeb; a step-brother, Walter (Katherine) Jabs of Mt. Horeb; two nieces, Mary Ellen (Bernie) Tennis of Madison, and Carol (Jim) Schumann of Tempe, AZ; and one nephew, David Larson of Mount Horeb. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Wanda, on July 18, 1995.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at the Hollandale Lutheran Church in Hollandale. Funeral services will follow at the church at 1:00 PM. Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Long Valley Cemetery in rural Hollandale. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
