Betty Jean (Ihus) Duffey

Betty Jean Duffey, age 92 of Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb, formerly of the Hollandale & Barneveld area, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb.  Betty was born in Blanchardville on August 24, 1928 to Carl and Dorothy (Arntson) Ihus.  She went to the Blanchardville grade school and graduated from the Blanchardville high school.  She also attended the Wisconsin State Teachers College in Platteville.  She was married on October 29, 1949 in the Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Mineral Point to Edward R Duffey.  They farmed together in rural Barneveld, first with Ed's father on the family farm, then in 1959 they bought a farm in Hollandale & lived there for 13 years until 1972 when they moved back to the family farm which they purchased, where they lived for the remainder of their years together.  In 2012 Betty moved to Mount Horeb to live at Ingleside Manor.  Betty was a phenomenal cook, an outstanding farm wife, and a faithful & active church member at Grace United Methodist Church "the rock church" in Ridgeway.

Betty is survived by her three children, Virginia (Dave) Jensen of rural Hollandale, Marlene (Randy) Lund of Dubuque, Iowa, and Mark Duffey of rural Barneveld; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Peterson of Mount Horeb.  She was preceded in death by her Parents, Carl and Dorothy Ihus; her husband Edward R Duffey who died in 2007; 3 sisters, Donna O'Brien, Janet Weisenberg, and Marilyn Moen; and 3 brothers, Gordon Ihus, Donald Ihus, and Paul Ihus.

A visitation, with the wearing of masks and social distancing, will be held Saturday morning, March 6, 2021 from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at Blanchard Hall at 204 South Main Street in Blanchardville.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at Blanchard Hall.  Pastor James Droste of Grace United Methodist Church in Ridgeway will officiate.
