Candance "Candy" Sue Kundert, age 61 of Blanchardville died on Monday afternoon, June 15, 2009 surrounded by her family at the home of her sister in Belleville after a brief illness. Candy was born on July 8, 1947 in the St. Clare Hospital in Monroe to Herbert & Luane (Christen) Blaser. They lived in the rural Postville, and Belleville areas while she was growing up. She was baptized and confirmed at the Swiss Church in New Glarus. She attended the Postville, Cooksville, and Ross country schools, and then graduated from the Belleville High School in 1965. After graduation she worked at Swiss Colony in Monroe, and The Belleville Citizen State Bank before she was married on October 21, 1967 in the Swiss Church in New Glarus to Richard Kundert. After they were married she helped in the Hay Hollow family cheese factory business, and was at home with her children. She also did in-home childcare. She later worked at the Gingham Kitchen restaurant in Blanchardville, and then started working at Lands End in 1985 where she worked until she became ill. She was a member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church where she was a youth leader and went on two Lutheran Youth Gatherings, was a Sunday school teacher, was a past church council member and member of the Women of the ELCA. She was very active in the Blanchardville Jaycette group and other community events. She loved sports including softball, bowling, golfing, and snowmobiling. She and Richard enjoyed dancing. She was an avid flower gardener and decorator which showed in her yard and in her home. She loved spending time with her friends, family and her dog Bruno. She was proud of her Swiss heritage, and of being 100% Swiss. She really enjoyed her trip to Switzerland with her family in 2005. Candy is survived by her husband Richard Kundert of Blanchardville; two daughters, Karianne (Marlyn) Kundert-Wahl of Monticello, and Karla (Jeff) Berzowski of Neenah; her parents, Herbert & Luane Blaser of Belleville; her sister, Cherrie Blaser of Belleville; one grandson, Alex Berzowski; two step-grandchildren Heidi and Matthew Wahl; her mother-in-law, Cleo Kundert of New Glarus; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Roy Kundert, and her grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Rev. Mark Gruner assisted by intern David Nelsestuen will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. Friends may call Friday evening, June 19, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church, and also from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
