Cody David Olson

September 10, 1986 — December 21, 2009

Cody David Olson, age 23, of Blanchardville died Monday morning December 21, 2009 as the result of a tragic fire where 4 lives were lost. He was born September 10, 1986 in Madison to David and Marita (Hughes) Olson. He grew up in Blanchardville and attended Pecatonica Grade and High School, graduating in the class of 2005. He was currently employed at infinIT out of Waunakee as a Cabling Technician. He loved life and lived life to the fullest. He had an infectious smile that made the world around him brighter. Cody loved baseball, especially the Yankees. Cody grew up playing sports, from T-ball, Flag Football at the YMCA, and Dribbling Dinosaurs to becoming Sectional Baseball Champs in 2004 and Earning Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. His family traveled many miles watching him play basketball, starting at the YMCA, with the Monroe Traveling Team, 3 on 3 Tournaments (winning several) to starting on Varsity as a Sophomore. A couple of his greatest sports accomplishments were during the summer after his Junior Year. He qualified to play in The Showcase at Miller Park and was also selected to play on the U.S. National Baseball Team in Puerto Rico. That was a trip of a lifetime. His other greatest passion was playing Poker at Husie's. He is probably organizing a Poker Tournament in Heaven. Cody shot pool for Dan & Jill's Silver Dollar Saloon and he loved listening to music. Cody is survived by his parents, David and Marita Olson of Blanchardville, his sisters Melody (Jon) Jeglum and Missy Olson, nieces Kassidi Alderman and Reese Jeglum and nephew Connor Sass all of Blanchardville. His love, Katelyn Terrill of Mt. Horeb, his Grandfather, Paul Hughes of Waunakee, many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother, Mary Hughes, Grandparents, Vernus and Irene Olson, his sister's baby Riley Jeglum, his Aunt Melissa Hughes, a brother Jeremy Olson at birth, and special friend and classmate, Josh Krebs. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 27th, 2009 at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church, 305 Madison St in Blanchardville, WI from 3 pm to 8 pm. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family. Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.saetherfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be on Monday, December 28th, 2009 also at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church at 11 am. Friends may call at the church from 10 am until the time of service. Cody, you lit up our world and you touched so many lives. We will miss you walking in the room and saying "Whats Up" in that deep voice of yours. You are a wonderful Son, Brother, Uncle and friend, and you will live in our hearts forever. We love you so much. Now you can win that million dollar jackpot. There is nothing you can't do now.
