David Lee Springer

November 28, 1942 — February 21, 2017

David Lee Springer, age 74 of rural Ridgeway, formerly of Hollandale and Coldwater, Michigan died early Tuesday morning, February 21, 2017 at his home. He was born on November 28, 1942 in Richland Center to Juanita Springer. He went all through school in Hollandale, and graduated in 1961. He entered the Navy in February of 1962 and served until October of 1968, serving on the USS Bryce Canyon and the USS Maddox during the Viet Nam war where he was a multi-medal recipient. After leaving service Dave went to work for Wick Buildings in Mazomanie. He worked at that location for a few years, and then transferred with Wick to a new plant in Coldwater, Michigan where he found a new home. He later went to work in the maintenance depart for the Coldwater school district. He volunteered with the Branch County Sherriff's Mounted Patrol in Coldwater for 17 years. While in Coldwater he was proud to be a big brother in the Big Brother program. After his retirement he moved back to Hollandale in 2007, and in 2016 moved to his current home north of Ridgeway. Dave's loves were hunting and fishing.
David is survived by his wife, Candice (Wood) Springer of rural Ridgeway; two brothers, Joe and Jeff Strand, both of Hollandale; a special nephew, Kevin Aviza of Coldwater, Michigan; and Candy's children, Zack Wood of Waunakee, and his son Alex, and Mandy Hawk of Sun Prairie and children Daniel, Makiah, and Makenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, February 23, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Blanchard Hall at 204 South Main Street in Blanchardville. A funeral service will be held on Friday morning, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Blanchard Hall. Burial will be in the Hollandale cemetery. A funeral lunch will follow burial at Blanchard Hall.
