Donald Carlton Ihus, age 91 of Shullsburg, formerly of Blanchardville, died on Friday morning, October 23, 2015 at the Shullsburg Home. He was born on April 2, 1924 in rural Blanchardville to Carl & Dorothy (Arntsen) Ihus where he grew up on the family farm. He was married to Pauline Ruth Kuhnke on August 13, 1960 in the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. Donald farmed in rural Blanchardville his entire life. He loved his children and grandchildren. If there was ever a baby in the room it always ended up in his arms.
Donald is survived by his wife Pauline Ihus of rural Blanchardville; four children, Janet Ihus of Apple River, IL, Alan Ihus of rural Blanchardville, Tamara Ihus of Shullsburg, and Brandi Ihus of rural Blanchardville; six grandchildren, Rani (Brian) Vance, Adam (Carrie) Schaar, Hali Smith, Daniel (Mary Richards) Rolli, Abagail Ihus, and Alexander Olsen; and one brother, Paul Ihus of Mineral Point; four sisters, Grace Peterson of Mount Horeb, Betty Duffy of Mount Horeb, Marilyn Moen of Argyle, and Janet (Jerry) Weisenburg of Monroe; a sister-in-law, Bernadine Ihus, and a brother-in-law Paul O'Brien; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four grandchildren, Travis, Troy, and Tracy Trickel, and Dylan Schaar; his brother Gordon Ihus; and a sister Donna O'Brien;
A visitation for Donald Ihus will be held on Monday night, October 26, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Lutheran (formerly Blanchardville Lutheran Church). Pastor Jeff Meyer of the Centenary United Methodist Church of Shullsburg will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville.
