Doris Virginia (Eidsmoe) Scheidegger

June 3, 1923 — April 18, 2010

Doris Virginia (Eidsmoe) Scheidegger, age 86, of Blanchardville, passed away on Sunday evening, April 18, 2010, at the New Glarus Nursing Home. The former Doris Eidsmoe was born on June 3, 1923, in the Town of Moscow, Iowa County, Wisconsin, to parents Oscar and Bertina (Tofsrud) Eidsmoe.

She attended the Moscow Rural School and graduated from the Blanchardville High School Class of 1941. She attended a Madison business college and worked in Madison offices until her marriage to Fred Scheidegger on December 6, 1956, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Dubuque, Iowa. They lived and made cheese in the Brager Cheese Factory, rural Blanchardville, until 1962. She then went to work in Madison for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue until her retirement in 1984. In 1969, they moved to their new home in rural Blanchardville and, after retiring, spent the Winters for ten years in Las Vegas until her husband, Fred, passed away in 1995.

She was a member of the Blanchardville Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid Society. She loved traveling, gardening, flowers, morning coffee clutches and she cared for her family dearly.

She is survived by a brother Allen (Lana) Eidsmoe of LaCrosse; a sister-in-law, Vera Eidsmoe of Verona; nieces and nephews, Gary (Shirley) Eidsmoe, and Shari (Robert) O'Connor of Blanchardville, Lori (Lee Collins) Brown of Barneveld, Marci (Wes) Watrud of New Glarus, Kristi (Mark McVay) Eidsmoe of Dodgeville, Suzi (Greg) Ohlhues of Farmington, MN, and Debi Eidsmoe of Verona; fifteen great nieces and nephews, Geoffrey (Jenny) Eidsmoe, Tracy (Ryan) Donnelly, Casey O'Connor, Brady (Jenne Grindle) O'Connor, Maci, Sierra, and Brooke Watrud, Tricia, Alex, Kristal, and Kelsey McVay, Kailey, Autumn and Tabitha Ohlhues, and Cassie Jensen; Fred's niece and nephew John and Sharon Shumway of Texas; her friend, Cloyance Hefty of Arizona; and many dear and loved cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred on July 26, 1995; her parents, Oscar on June 8, 1968, and Bertina on December 28, 1955; her brother, Herbert (Bud) Eidsmoe on January 17, 1984; her nephew Dale Eidsmoe in March 1954; her grandparents Henry and Olena Eidsmoe, and Anton and Nekolene Tofsrud; and a very dear Aunt, Selma Eidsmoe, whom she loved dearly, in August 1939. Doris lived a full, good life and shared many friendships here and there. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; ah, yes, these things I, too, will miss.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. Visitation will be held Friday evening, April 23, 2010, from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
