Gaylord Eugene Hanson

Gaylord Eugene Hanson, age 72 of Blanchardville died on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Atrium Care Center in Mineral Point. He was born on June 9, 1944 in Monroe to Chester & Fern (Wahl) Hanson. He grew up on the family farm in rural Blanchardville, and attended the Loyalty rural school, and graduated from the Blanchardville High School in 1962. He farmed with his parents, and worked for the Frito Corporation in Monroe, he later drove milk truck, worked for the Erickson Brothers on their farm, and then worked for Hanna Brothers Soil Service for over 22 years. He was married to Elaine Gempler in 1965, and was later married to Sandra Knoll in 1974. He was then married to Margaret Gilbertson on June 26, 1993 at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. Gaylord was a member of the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with Margaret at his cousin's cabin near Winter, Wisconsin. He loved John Deere tractors.

Gaylord is survived by his wife, Margaret; two children, Brenda and Gene; four step-children, Sharon Parkos of Barneveld, Cherie (Ronald) Kurschner of Blanchardville, Donald (Linda) Gilbertson of Winslow, IL, and Timothy (Lauren) Gilbertson of Belmont; and one sister, Sharon (Gary) Arn, of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dean and sister-in-law Marcia Hanson.

A visitation for Gaylord Hanson will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Blanchard Hall on Main Street in Blanchardville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM at New Hope Lutheran in Blanchardville. Rev. Michelle Elfers will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
