Georgia Lillian Wynne, age 90 of Blanchardville died on Tuesday evening, October 7, 2014 with her family by her side at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on July 25, 1924 in Illmo, Missouri to Joseph and Bessie (Goddard) Tharp. She grew up and attended school in Illmo. Her family attended the Assembly of God church in Illmo where she eventually met her future husband, Howard Wynne, Jr. They were married in June of 1940. After they were married they moved to Springfield, Missouri where they attended Central Bible College. After Howard graduated they moved to Doniphan, Missouri where Howard took the first call of his ministry and Georgia became a supportive partner in his ministry as a faithful minister's wife. It was while there that their first child, Ludora was born. They next moved to Fornfelt, Missouri so Howard could complete a 4 year degree. In those years Georgia worked in a fan factory. They then moved to Lake Bluff, Illinois so Howard could attend graduate school at Northwestern University. While there Georgia and Howard became house parents at the Methodist Church Children's Home. Their daughter Anne was born while they lived there. It was during his working with the Methodist church while in Lake Bluff that he decided to become a Methodist clergy. After this decision he enrolled in the Garrett Theological Seminary where he received a master of divinity degree. All Howard's years of college Georgia proof read and edited all of his papers. Through this she also learned most of what Howard was learning in college. After his ordination, his first Methodist church was in North Prairie, Illinois. He also later served in several churches in Illinois, and then ended up in Lime Ridge, Wisconsin. Georgia loved being a minister's wife, but she never let it interfere with being a mother. Howard died on November 15, 1995. At that time she moved to Blanchardville to live with her daughter, Ludora. In July of 2014 Georgia celebrated her 90th birthday with a big family party. Georgia was a fantastic seamstress, and loved sewing and knitting. She loved spending time at the family retreat in rural Blanchardville. Georgia and Howard loved sharing and discussing books. She also loved and had a talent for house plants. She enjoyed cooking for her family and caring for them. She taught and instilled in her children her spiritual values and compassion for all people.
