Gladys Belinda Severson, age 94 of Blanchardville died early Monday morning, September 8, 2014 at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus. She was born on March 15, 1920 at home in Blanchardville to Ingram Ben & Gertrude Belinda (Moen) Huestis. Grew up in Blanchardville and attended the Blanchardville grade and high school. She worked various jobs in southern Wisconsin. She was married on April 19, 1941 to Lawrence William Severson in Monroe. They lived in Blanchardville and raised their 3 children. She was a member of the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, loved her dogs, and was a member of the Blanchardville Legion Auxiliary. She worked on Friday nights making fish at the Ryan Hotel, Village Inn and the Black Oak Inn in Blanchardville.
She is survived by two children, Jane (Duane) Hanson of Blanchardville, and Jim (Debra) Severson of Blanchardville; 10 grandchildren, Betsy (Jeff) Peterson, Bryan Severson, Todd (Margy) Hanson, Beth (Jeff) Sigg, Tim (Tammy) Hanson, Tony Severson, Matt (Lynn) Severson, Becky (Mike) Garton, Peter (Jennifer) Severson, and Zachary Severson; 2 step grandchildren, Eddie Fitters and William (Tracy) Fitters; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lawrence who died on April 28, 1987; a son William Peter "Billy Pete" Severson who died January 2, 2007; one sister Vada Schild; and one great-granddaughter, Charleigh Marie Hanson.
A visitation for Gladys Severson will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church in Blanchardville, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville assisted the family.
