Gloria Jean Gilbertson, 76, of Argyle died on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. She was born in Dodgeville on April 20, 1950, to Thomas and Mary (Benson) Burris. Gloria grew up on her family’s farm in the Yellowstone Lake and Fayette area. She attended the Darlington Grade and High School. She helped her parents and seven siblings in working the family farm. She met her future husband on his birthday at a party on May 3, 1969. They started dating and were married May 9, 1970. They lived in Hollandale, Darlington, and then Dunbarton. Gloria cooked at a restaurant in her early years, then transitioned to Lands End where she worked in the embroidery department for 31 years. She was well known within her family and friends for her excellent buns, cinnamon rolls, lefse and Klub. She loved gambling in Dubuque, and Madison at the casinos, playing cards, and bowling at the Ranch House Lanes in Darlington.
Gloria is survived by her husband Larry Gilbertson of Argyle; her daughter Pam (Roy) Hardt of Darlington; her sons, Tony Gilbertson of Argyle and Tim (Christina) Gilbertson of Monroe; seven grandchildren, Julia (Logan), Brandon, Nick (Karri), Kelsey (Tyler), Kyle (Makayla), Corrina (Cooper), and Tegan; and eight great-grandchildren, Brantley, Arabella, Bjorn, Torben, Orson, Riddick, Rian and Scotty; seven siblings, Judy (Larry) Christensen of Melvina, Helen (Bob) Parr of Darlington, Karen (Dave) Beecher of Hollandale, Mary Jo (Ed) Goebel of Darlington, Tom (Irene) Burris of Mineral Point, Mark Burris of Shullsburg, and Theresa (Kurt) Tollakson of Argyle; a sister-in-law Cynthia Gilbertson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation for Gloria Gilbertson will be held on Thursday evening, June 18, 2026, from 4:00 until 8:00pm at Blanchard Hall at 204 South Main Street in Blanchardville, and before service on Friday June 19th from 10:00 until 11:00am at the church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday June 19, 2026, at the Adams Lutheran Church on County Highway A in rural Argyle. Rev. Erich Hartenberger will officiate. Burial will be in the Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery, a luncheon will follow. Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.
