Grant Leroy Nyhus

February 22, 1927 — July 2, 2016

Grant Leroy Nyhus, age 89 of the rural Mount Horeb-Blanchardville area died on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus. He was born on February 22nd, 1927 in Perry Township to Arthur and Lena (Rosaasen) Nyhus and attended the Daleyville School. He was married to Delores Wahl on February 13, 1949 at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. Grant and Dolores farmed briefly in New Glarus and in the Yellowstone area before settling in Daleyville in the 1950's. Grant continued to farm until a recent decline in his health prevented it. Grant was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Blanchardville, he loved to farm, watch old movies and travel; particularly to Switzerland, Norway and Alaska. Grant is survived by one daughter, Roxann (Michael) Robinson of Phoenix, Arizona A sister, Olga Bloczynski of Waunakee, Wisconsin Three Grandchildren, Ryan Bollig of Mount Horeb, WI, Carissa Hughes of Fitchburg, WI and Latasha Jackson of Mesa, AZ. And two great grandchildren, Xandar and Justice Bollig He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolores Nyhus on August 14, 2011 and his son Charles Nyhus on September 28, 2001. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the New Glarus Nursing Home staff and Dr. Gedden for their excellent care over the years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Pastor Michelle Elfers will officiate. Burial will be in the York Memorial Cemetery in rural Blanchardville. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
