Helen Julia Demopulos, age 95, of Carlock, IL, formerly of Evanston, IL and rural Blanchardville, WI died on Tuesday October 27, 2015 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal. Helen was born September 23, 1920 in Evanston, IL to James and Julia Nikitopoulos Karras. She married Theodore Demopulos on June 5, 1949 in Evanston. In 1978 Helen and Theodore retired to rural Blanchardville where they lived until he died unexpectedly on December 16, 1985 in rural Blanchardville, Wisconsin. After his death she moved to the Bloomington, IL area to be near her daughter. Helen was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria. She enjoyed needlework, and was a sports fan especially baseball and tennis. She enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Greek tennis players. Her family was important to her and she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Patricia Pignotti of Carlock, IL, two grandchildren, David Pignotti of Chicago and Andrea (Joe) Fallat of Danvers, two great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers, George Karros of Evanston and Nick Karras of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Rev. Dr. Demetri Demopulos and one sister Betty Harkovich.
There will be a funeral for Helen on Friday October 30, 2015 at 11 AM at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria. Rev. Dr. Ciprian Sas will officiate. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place in Yellowstone Lutheran Cemetery in the rural Blanchardville-Argyle, Wisconsin area on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
