Helen B. Rindy, 82 of Cuba City, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family Friday, August 29, 2014 at her home. She was born December 4, 1931 in Madison to Bert & Helen (Dokken) Spears. She was a proud graduate of Blanchardville High School, class of 1949. She was united in marriage with Richard D. Rindy on August 6, 1949 in Mount Horeb. She and Richard farmed while raising their family in the Pine Bluff, Mount Vernon and Cuba City areas. Helen's life was devoted to loving her children, and teaching her children to love themselves and one another. She loved her country and was so proud of her family who served in the military. Helen enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
Helen is survived by 14 children, Helen Roberts of Riley, Roberta (Jim) Rosick of St. Charles, MO, Mary Ellen Hannemann of Riley, Evelyn (Charles) Sawyer of Columbus, Sylvia (Brian) Peckham of Platteville, James of Cornell, Dean (Michelle) of Fennimore, William (Deanna) of Monticello, IA, Christopher (Lisa) of Hollandale, Michael (Ronda) of Eau Claire, John of Cuba City, Charles (Terrie) of Blanchardville, Daniel (Heather) of Cuba City, and Sara (Jeff) Bechen of Kieler; a brother, Donald Spears of Fort Worth, TX; 45 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; one son Richard, Jr.; three grandchildren, Dean Rindy, Kari Roberts & John Roberts; a great-granddaughter Garrett Ubersox; two sisters, Virginia Purcell and Karen Engebretsen; three brothers, Albert, Bert and Dickie Spears; and a son-in-law, James Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 12:00 PM at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Rev. Craig Jan-McMahon will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Cemetery in rural Mount Horeb. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon hosted at the Chris & Lisa Rindy home following burial.
