Helga Viola Moen

Helga Viola (Kammerud) Moen, age 99 of Argyle died on Tuesday morning, January 5, 2010 at the Bloomfield Manor in rural Dodgeville after a long and wonderful life. She was born on October 10, 1910 in the Town of York, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Otto and Bertha (Kolden) Kammerud. She attended the Loyalty School. Helga was married on April 10, 1931 to Ancil Burness Moen in Freeport, Illinois. They were blessed with four children. She spent much of her life farming with her husband in the Town of Fayette in the Yellowstone area until 1955 when they moved to Blanchardville. Helga and Ancil ran an electrical business until his death in 1963. She also worked at Oaktron and St. Claire Hospital in Monroe and various households in Madison and Blanchardville. She belonged to the Mt. Horeb Flying Club and submitted a number of articles to the Pecatonica Leader about local history. Helga was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Helga is survived by a daughter, Gloria Hollander of Dodgeville; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ancil, in 1963; a son, Wayne, in 1969; two daughters, Rosalie Lunda on March 24, 1994 and Synneva Nelson on May 22, 2001; one grandson, Scott Lunda; one son-in-law William Hollander; five brothers, Oscar, Harlan, Eden, Arthur, and Thomas; and four sisters, Olive Nelson, Goldie Johnson, Sena Coffell, Ingeborg Kammerud. A visitation for Helga Moen will be held Friday evening, January 8, 2010 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Adams Lutheran Cemetery in rural Argyle. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
