Hugh Ellory Hosking

Hugh Ellory Hosking, age 79 of Madison died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born in Racine on January 29, 1937 to Joy Harriet (Peterson) Hosking. He grew up in Hollandale where he attended grade school and graduated from high school. He attended the UW-Platteville for two years, and then entered the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1961. After leaving service he completed two more years of college in Platteville and graduated. He was married in 1967 to Carolyn Coldwell. Hugh taught high school science in Benton for two years, and then worked for Ohio Medical where he was a methods and planning engineer for 35 years. Hugh loved trap shooting, fishing and skiing, through which he met his wife. He loved spending time with his family.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hosking of Madison; and a son Alex (Michelle) Hosking of Barcelona, Spain. He was preceded in death by his mother. A visitation will be held on Monday afternoon, May 23, 2016 from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at New Hope Lutheran in Hollandale. A celebration of life service will be held following at 2:00 PM on Monday at the church. Rev Michelle Elfers will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Long Valley Cemetery, followed by a funeral lunch back in the church basement. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
