James Norman Nelson

James Norman Nelson, age 90 of Blanchardville died on Monday afternoon, March 16, 2015 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital after a long life. Jim was born on December 1, 1924 to Ole and Rose (Frislie) Nelson in the Blanchardville area where he also attended school. He served in the US Army as a combat engineer in Korea. Jim married Synneva Moen on September 26, 1952 in the Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville. They lived in Monroe for 23 years before moving to Blanchardville in 1976. He retired from semi truck driving for the Blanchardville Co-op Oil in 1990. Jim was member of the Yellowstone Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and hanging out at the lake.
Jim is survived by four children, Greg (Jean Roberts) Nelson of New Glarus, Debi Nelson of Mount Horeb, Dale (Pamela) Nelson Mount Horeb, and Gail Pink of Darlington; five grandchildren, Kirsten Basco, Mallory Pink, Kimberly Pink, Griffin Harvey and Kristina Nelson; one great-grandchild, Jordyn Pink; and a sister Clara Hanson. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Synneva who died on May 22, 2001; and his sisters Evelyn Paulson and Ruth Bisgaard.
A visitation for Jim Nelson will be held on Friday morning, March 20, 2015 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at the Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Rev. Daniel Bohlman will officiate. Veteran's honors will be provided by the Dobson-Johnson American Legion Post of Blanchardville where he was a member.
