Janelle Ann (Whitford) Thompson

Janelle Ann Thompson, age 70 of Blanchardville died Wednesday, February 15, 2023.  She was born on November 27, 1952, to John "Jack" Alfred and Phyllis Marie (Mosley) Whitford in the Darlington hospital.  They lived in the Darlington area where she attended Holy Rosary Catholic school and graduated from the Darlington High School in 1970.  She worked as a nurse's aide at the Monroe Hospital.  She married Paul Thompson on April 8, 1972, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington.  After they were married, she worked at Microswitch in Warren for two years. They moved to Blanchardville in 1974. For the first 8 years they were farming in rural Blanchardville, and she worked with Paul on the farm.  She also started working at Trumpy Cheese in Blanchardville, continuing through the several owners of that business for the next 17 years.  In 1982 they moved to town.   She later started working at Moores Business Forms in Monroe, which became R. R. Donnley and retired after 24 years working there.  Janelle loved to bake and cook for family dinners and events.  She loved being with family, being a very loving wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved following her grandchildren in their sporting events.  She was involved in the Blanchardville Jaycettes.

Janelle is survived by her husband, Paul Thompson of Blanchardville; one son Erik Thompson of Blanchardville; one daughter Jennifer Gille of Monroe; five grandchildren, Dylan Thompson, Derek Thompson, Torie Crist, Cassandra (James) Rugg, and Hailey Gille; one great-grandchild, Ayla; one sister, Mary (George) Gould of Darlington; and two brothers, Bill (Vicki) Whitford and Don Whitford, both of Darlington; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Travis Thompson; a sister-in-law, Louann Whitford and a brother and sister-in-law David and Shirley Holland. And her favorite Boston Terrier, Tucker.

A visitation for Janelle Thompson will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2023, at Blanchard Hall at 204 S Main Street.  Also on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 10:00 am until time of service at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of St. Isidore Parish in Blanchardville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.  Father Luke Syse will officiate.  Burial will be in the St. Michael's Yellowstone cemetery in rural Blanchardville.  A catered funeral lunch will follow at Blanchard Hall in Blanchardville.  Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.  Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at saetherfuneralservice.com
