Kathleen Harding Rakow, age 55, of Lone Rock died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the University Hospital in Madison. She was born December 1, 1955 Sycamore, IL the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Holderness) Harding. She moved to the Blanchardville area in 1970 and graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1974. Kathleen loved to crochet and taught many people how to crochet. She was an EMT in Avoca until moving to Lone Rock ten years ago. Kathy worked at the UW Health Center in Middleton.
Kathy is survived by, two children, Tim Rakow of Avoca, and Amy (Michael) Smith of Mineral Point, a brother Charles (Susan) Harding of Elgin, IL, a sister Karen (Steve Klatt) Harding of Appleton, nieces Kimberly (Woodrow) Ashby of Huntley. IL and Cynthia (Jason) Rafkind of San Rafael, CA, great nieces and nephews, Ryder Ashby, Griffyn Ashby, and Ginger Rafkind, many other relatives and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, including her father Charles who died on April 18, 2011, and abrother Thomas Harding.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery at a later date. Rev. Craig Conklin of the Blanchardville United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. The family suggests memorials in Kathy's name be given to the Kidney Foundation. The Pratt Funeral Service of Richland Center and the Saether Funeral Home of Blanchardville are assisting the family with their arrangements.
