Leah Michele Stansfield

Leah Michele Stansfield, age 59 of Hollandale died on Wednesday July 20, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family and cats after a struggle with Cancer.  Leah was born on December 8, 1962 in suburban Chicago to David Charles and Jeanne Ellen (Lachel) Stansfield.  She lived in suburban Chicago with her family until 1969 when they moved to Daleyville, Wisconsin, and then in 1972 to rural Hollandale.  She graduated from the Pecatonica High School in Hollandale and Blanchardville in 1981.  She attended the UW-Platteville for two years, and then began working at Stauffer Cheese in Blue Mounds.  Leah started working a second job at Wal-mart and then transferred into the pharmacy department full time until 2004 when she took a job at the Dean Clinic in Oregon, Wisconsin in their pharmacy.  Leah was a member of the Hollandale Lutheran Church, which became New Hope Lutheran, where she started teaching Sunday School when she was in high school, and continued teaching until just a few years ago.  Leah loved her rescue cats, Graham and Cheerio.  She loved crafts, making cards and sign painting.  She used her artistic talents for her Sunday School work.  She loved being with her nieces and nephews.  She also was known to her friends at work and Sunday School children for her baking.

Leah is survived by her mother, Jeanne Stansfield of Hollandale; Five siblings, David (Cindy) Stansfield of Leroy, MN, Jeannie U'Ren of Mount Horeb, Lynette Stansfield of Hollandale, Jonathan (Barbara) Stansfield of Ripon, Stephen Stansfield of Blanchardville; 9 nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert & Ruth Stansfield and Harold & Hazel Lachel her father, David, brother Philip, sister Lynn in infancy, brother-in-law, Greg U'Ren, nephew Greg U'Ren and great-nephew Joshua Stansfield.

A visitation for Leah will be held on Tuesday evening, July 26, 2022 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at New Hope Lutheran in Hollandale.  A funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2022 at 11:00 am.  The service will be livestreamed on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page.

Rev. Chris Strohm is officiating.  Burial will be in the Long Valley Cemetery in rural Hollandale.  Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.
