VETERAN'SPRAYER

By: Cheri Kainz

Please stay, is what he'd say,

as he tightly squeezed my hand.

Don't go. I need you here.

I don't want to be alone.

Veterans Day saved his life,

so we could have more time.

Don't worry Dad, we're still here,

with a letter from our hearts;

Dear Veteran,

You're not alone

and never will you be.

You served your time for strangers; some you'll never meet.

And even though you've left the earth,

a journey on your own.

Please know that when you get there,

new friends you'll come upon.

Just remember, Dad, were always here.

so you'll never be alone.
