Lincoln E. Barber

June 12, 1924 — November 5, 2011

If Linc were talking with you, he would tell you that he was "born 100 feet from where he sleeps!" But, that wouldn't begin to explain his big, rich, joyous life.

"Life is good!" was the theme of Linc's life. Meeting and talking with people, laughing, teasing, joking, being outside, having goals, having beauty around him, good flavors, flowers, love and stories. Linc lived life, soaked up life, beat odds, knew how he wanted to live, and he dearly loved life .

Sure, Linc worked hard, took pride in his work and owning his Standard Oil business. Linc was proud to be a Marine and to later volunteer at the V.A. He was a member of the Blanchardville Fire Department and EMS. He was most proud of his wife, Carol, his family, friends, his house, and his hometown. Linc accomplished a lot; he influenced and inspired many. Yes, he made friends where ever he went.

For all of us in his world, we feel so lucky! We miss him already but feel so proud of him and how he controlled everything in his life, even in his exit. If you knew him, please continue to spread the joy that he put out there…that would make him proud.

Linc left us for his next journey on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the age of 87 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Madison. He was born on June 12, 1924 in Blanchardville to Earl and Inez (Mason) Barber. Linc's sisters Maybelle Hanson and Susan Schroeder both also left on their next journeys within the last month.
