Marcia Colleen Peterson

Marcia Colleen Peterson, age 87 of Sienna Crest in Mineral Point, formerly of rural Hollandale-Barneveld, died early Sunday morning, June 19, 2016 at Sienna Crest. She was born on April 12, 1929 on the family farm to Milton Sr. and Gladys Clara (Venden) Erickson. She attended several country schools, and then the Blanchardville High School. She married Delbert Leland Peterson on October 9, 1947 in the York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville. They farmed together on the Peterson homestead family farm in rural Barneveld for over 60 years. She loved her cows and calves and helped milk cows right along side Delbert. She also loved raising chickens. Marcia was a member of the Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville where she was a Sunday School teacher and in the Women of the ELCA. She was always busy sewing and baking, and taking care of her family. She loved company and always had coffee and cookies ready. Her doughnuts and cinnamon rolls were exceptional. Marcia and Delbert also loved going out dancing.

Marcia is survived by her five children, Leland (Carol) Peterson of Hollandale, Todd Peterson of rural Barneveld, Vicki McCarville (John Cox) of Mineral Point, Juanita (Richard) Hittesdorf of Madison, and Debi (Jim) Sainsbury of Cobb; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 8 siblings, Gloria Treuthardt of Monroe, Stanley (Carol) Erickson of Hollandale, Shirley Barth of Monroe, Rae (Earl) Boeshaar Roswell, Georgia, Frank (Connie) Erickson of Darlington, Terry (Karen) Erickson of New Glarus, Linda (Dale) Bernhardt of Platteville, and Wendy (Ray) Spellman of Darlington; two sisters-in-law, Mary Erickson and Pat Erickson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Delbert Peterson who died on April 3, 2014; an infant son Lynn Carlyle Peterson; a great-granddaughter, Kylie Jo Pilling; three brothers, Dwayne, Milton Jr, and Jerry Erickson; and two brothers-in-law Robert Treuthardt, and Dale Barth.

A visitation for Marcia Peterson will be held on Wednesday evening, June 22, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, WI, and again Thursday June 23, 2016 from 12:00 until 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the church. Rev. Kelli Fisher of the Perry Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Perry Cemetery.
