Mason John Wedige, age 15 of Blanchardville died on Thursday evening, October 28, 2010 as a result of a vehicle accident. He was born on August 16, 1995 in Madison to John & Lisa (McKeon) Wedige. He grew up in Blanchardville, and attended the Pecatonica grade and high school where he was currently a freshman. He was active in school sports, participating in baseball, football, wrestling and basketball. Mason loved hunting raccoons, turkey and deer and ATV riding. He also loved riding his lawn mower around Blanchardville. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville, and was in Cub-Scouts. Mason was very friendly and talkative, and loved spending time with his family and friends the most. Mason is survived by his parents, John Wedige of Blanchardville; and Lisa Wedige (Bill Theobald) of Blanchardville; two sisters, Brianna and Emily Wedige, both of New Glarus; a paternal grandmother, Ila Wedige of Lena, Illinois; maternal grandparents, Jim & Norma McKeon of Blanchardville; maternal great-grandparents, Amos & Verna Moen of Mount Horeb; and aunts & uncles, Michelle & Larry Clark and family of Cedarville, IL, Kevin & Karen Wedige and family of Ohio, Paul & Sherry Wedige and family of Lena, IL, Mike & Glenda McKeon and family of New Glarus, and Tim & Lana McKeon and family of Blanchardville. Mason was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jerome "Jerry" Wedige; and his uncle Brian "Butch" McKeon. A visitation will be held at the Pecatonica High School in Blanchardville on Monday afternoon, November 1, 2010 from 3:00 until 8:00 PM immediately followed by a memorial service for students, area friends and family at 8:00 PM at the school. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning, November 2, 2010 at 12:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville. Fr. Thomas Gillespie of that church will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Blanchardville. A funeral lunch will follow at the American Legion Post in Blanchardville. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
