Maurice Palmer Wahl

Maurice Palmer Wahl, age 87 of rural Blanchardville died on Friday morning, July 10, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1922 in Blanchardville on Baker Street to Palmer & Monica (Daly) Wahl. He grew up in Blanchardville and attended grade school in Blanchardville. He worked on the family farm in rural Blanchardville after the death of his father when Maurice was a young man. He was married in a double ring ceremony on May 23, 1944 to Hedy Gruenenfelder in the Holy Redeemer Church in Perry. They farmed together on his grandfather's farm on Old Q in rural Blanchardville. They then farmed together on various farms through out the years, retiring from farming in 1969. He then worked at Oaktron Industries in Monroe until his retirement. Maurice enjoyed antique farm equipment and attending antique farm equipment shows and flea markets. He is a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle. He loved family reunions, spending time with his family and visiting with friends. Maurice is survived by his wife, Hedy Wahl of rural Blanchardville; seven children, Merin (Marcia) Wahl of Mineral Point, Michael (Cyndi) Wahl of Mineral Point, Maynard (Jane) Wahl of New Glarus, Marcy (Cassi Wieling) Wahl of Blanchardville, Maureen (Robert) Prestbroten of Blanchardville, Myles (Lori) Wahl of Blanchardville and Marlyn (Karianne) Wahl of Monticello; three sisters, Marie (Bill) Rieder of Madison, Margaret (Henry) Gruenenfelder of Blanchardville, and Mary Jean (Gene) Hendrickson of Blanchardville; one brother, Mark (Charlotte) Wahl of Killeen, Texas; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; one sister-in-law, Donna Wahl of Monticello; and brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Meldan who died on September 19, 1976; and one brother, Myron Wahl. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 12:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Argyle. Fr. David Wanish will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Blanchardville. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, July 12, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Argyle.
