Norman Glen Nelson

Norman Glen Nelson, age 85 of Blanchardville died on Saturday morning, March 14, 2009 at the Oregon Manor in Oregon, Wisconsin. He was born on September 28, 1923 in Iowa County, Wisconsin to Henry O. and Emma (Ingwell) Nelson. He was baptized in Yellowstone Church and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. He grew up in the Blanchardville area, attended the Ingwell-Watrud rural school, and graduated from the Blanchardville High School. On August 18, 1956 he married Charlotte L. Borchers at Madison Wisconsin. He farmed the Ingwell Homestead most of his entire life and also worked at Oscar Mayer Company in his earlier years. He retired from farming in 1985 and moved to Blanchardville where later he was a volunteer for the "Sun Meal Program". Norm loved to bowl and play cards. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Survivors include his nephew, Arlen (Dorothy) Milestone of Oregon; three grand-nephews, Kevin Milestone of Oregon, and Michael and Jerry McDonald, both of Madison; three great-nieces, Makenzie Milestone, and Courtney & Kaysie Labno; one brother-in-law Roland Borchers of Madison, two sister-in-laws, Virginia Bryzinski of Mishawaka, IN and Carol (Joseph) McDonald of Madison and other nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his wife Charlotte, his parents, one sister Melba Milestone and one nephew Richard Milestone, and one niece at birth, Sharon Elizabeth Milestone. Blessed be his memory. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Intern Pastor Dave Nelsestuen and Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. Friends may call Tuesday morning, March 17, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
