Agnes Benson Obituary

Agnes Odella Benson, age 96 of the New Glarus Home, formerly of Blanchardville, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on August 11, 1915 on the home farm in Dane County, Perry Township, the daughter of August and Mabel (Swenson) Moen. She attended River Forks rural school. Agnes was married on August 3, 1938 to Sever Edward Benson at Old York Church. She and Sever farmed in the Blanchardville area. They retired to Blanchardville in 1977. She was a member of Perry Lutheran Church and the Women of the ELCA, and a past member of the Sunnyside Homemakers.


Agnes is survived by two children, Carol (Arnold) Nelson and David Benson; a brother, Amos (Verna) Moen; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Moen; five grandchildren, Mark Nelson, Dana (Mike) Weber, JoLaine (Tony) Hamwey, Heather Benson, and Lance Benson; three great-grandchildren, Justin and Jared Weber, and Grace Benson; and three special God Children, Paul Lokken, Linda Moen Wagner and Norma Moen McKeon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sever on November 12, 1992; a sister, Orpha Udelhouven in 1959, and a brother Peter Moen; and many nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville. Rev. Hans Floan of that church will officiate. Burial will be in the Perry Lutheran Cemetery in rural Daleyville. Friends may call Friday morning prior to the service from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at the church.
