Marilyn Berg Obituary

Marilyn (Peggy) Berg, age 84, of Blanchardville, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus. She was born on March 27, 1930, the daughter of Maurice & Clara Erickson Hendrickson. She was married to Ardell Kolden October 31, 1948 until his death in 1962.
On June 30, 1964 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Berg by his brother the reverend Duane A. Berg at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. On Jun 30th they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ardell Kolden, brother Wayne Hendrickson, sister Jeanette Wyttenbach, brothers in law John and Donald Wyttenbach , Russel Berg, sister- in- law Colleen Kolden & great grandson, Eric Vamstad.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert L. Berg, four daughters: Joey Kolden Bryan of New Jersey, Patty (Stuart) Vamstad of Darlington, Kathy (John) Kolden Doyle of Madison and Ranee (Allan) Olson of Argyle. Grand Children include Michael (Miriam) Vamstad, Brad (Jenny) Vamstad, Brian (Hillary) Vamstad, Melissa Bryan, Kyle & Ryan Olson and Jenny (Matt) Wilhelms, 6 Great Grand Children, sister Darleen Wyttenbach & best friend and confidant, Joyce Moen.
Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother. She farmed beside her husband for nearly 50 years. She was an active member of the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting with Ladies of the WELCA.
She took great pride in the neatly kept appearance of the farm lawn and flower beds. The Norwegian Flag Barn Quilt was admired by many passers by . She always had the coffee ready with fresh baked cookies or donuts to go with it. The 1998 trip to Norway with Robert and family and friends was a topic that she always loved to talk about over coffee.
In celebration of her life, a visitation will be at the Blanchardville Lutheran church on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the church. Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate.
