"Paul" Sylvan Sardeson

Blanchardville

Sylvan "Paul" Sardeson, age 96 of Blanchardville, died on Tuesday morning, December 20, 2022 at the Upland Hills Hospital in Dodgeville. He was born on August 1, 1926 in Lafayette County in Argyle, the son of Maurice and Stella (Moe) Sardeson. He attended the Apple Branch School and graduated from the Argyle High School. Paul farmed with his father, Maurice until he was 21 and he started his carpentry career, which he continued for 45 years. Paul was married to Nancy in his early years. They had four children together, sons Steven, William, Thomas and James. On December 15, 1968 he was married to Judith Gutzmer at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. They had two sons, Curt and Kevin. He lived in the Blanchardville area. Following his carpentry career, he worked as an energy auditor, in a lumber yard, sold Pole Buildings, and worked in fire safety. He was a member of New Hope Lutheran in Blanchardville, formerly Blanchardville Lutheran Church, where he served on council. He was a Boy Scout leader at one time. He was chairman of meals on wheels for a long time. At age 67 he also started managing apartment buildings for the next 21 years. He served on the Blanchardville Village Board. He was one of the people who started the rescue squad in Blanchardville and was an honorary fireman, serving on the department for 19 years. Paul enjoyed the many trips he took, and loved hunting, fishing, boating, and at one time water skiing, and had a cabin in Merrimac.

Paul is survived by five sons, William (Patricia) Sardeson of Baraboo, Thomas (Linda) Sardeson of Hager City, James Sardeson of Portage, Curtus (Megan) Sardeson of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; and Kevin Sardeson of Blanchardville; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Sardeson of Richland Center; eleven grandchildren, Joe, Jen, Scott, Tammi, Stephanie, Tylor, Lindsey, Chase, Zoe, Drake and Gaige; and eighteen great-grandchildren, Noah, Oscar, Charlotte, Audrena, Grace, Danni, Sean, Derik, David, Jeff, Sabine, Kinsale, Luke, Piper, Zach, Elija, Creedance and Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Steven; one grandchild; and two sisters, Elaine McCoppin and Lois Alm.

A visitation for Paul Sardeson will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Blanchard Hall, 204 South Main Street in Blanchardville. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Lutheran in Blanchardville. Rev. Chris Strohm will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.
