Roland (Rollie) Verdell Trumble, age 94, died on February 9, 2026 at the New Glarus Nursing Home. Rollie was born on July 12, 1931, son of Chester and Viola (Paulson) Trumble. He attended rural school and graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1949. Rollie and Norma (Robb) Trumble were united in marriage on August 11, 1951. Rollie joined the Air Force in August of 1951 and while in the service lived in Wichita Falls, Texas and Rantoul, Illinois. He served in the Air Force for four years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. They moved back and settled down on their dairy farm between Blanchardville and Mineral Point. They were dairy farmers for over 40 years. After retiring from farming Rollie and Norma moved to Blanchardville and he worked at Ederer’s Do It Best Hardware until age 82.

Rollie was proud to be a veteran and was a member of the Dobson-Johnson-Gallagher American Legion Post 142 of Blanchardville for over 60 years. He was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church and served on the church council. Rollie was also an avid baseball and Brewer fan and especially enjoyed watching them this past season. He enjoyed playing Home Talent baseball and softball in his younger days.

Rollie is survived by his son, Steve (Dee) Trumble of Williams Bay; his daughter, Jackie (Tom) Ewing of Verona; 4 grandchildren, Tim (Amy), Ric, Chelsey (Jeff) and Sadie (Ryan); and 6 great-grandchildren, Laura, Emily, Adam, Ellie, Greylen, and Sunnie. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Trumble; his brother Marlyn Trumble; his sister Velda Thompson; his daughter Vicki Cleary; his granddaughter Sophie Ewing; and his special friend, Ruth Kolb.

He loved following his grandchildren’s sports and he had a knack for fixing just about anything and enjoyed talking and helping farmers and friends while working at Ederer’s. It was a gift that Rollie was able to live in his home until a few weeks ago and allowed him a sense of dignity, independence and to maintain a daily routine. He was dedicated to working the land, early mornings, and a work ethic that was passed down through generations.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Agrace Hospice and the New Glarus Nursing Home. A special thank you to his VA caregiver, Carlee Bremmer, for her excellent care and kindness with our Dad. Rollie will be missed and fondly remembered by his family.

A private service will be held for the family. Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family. Online Memoires and condolences can be shared with the family on saetherfuneralservice.com or on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page.
