Ronald Joseph Cleary

Ronald Joseph Cleary, age 70 of Westfield, WI, formerly of Blanchardville, died on Thursday evening, June 18, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Madison. He was born in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Dodgeville on November 11, 1944 to Harry Michael and Henrietta Ilene (Tonkin) Cleary. He attended the Bainbridge country school near Blanchardville, and graduated from the Blanchardville High School in 1962. Ron entered the the US Army in 1967 and was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was stationed at Fort Brag, North Carolina and Fort Polk in Louisiana. He was a past owner of the Village Inn in Blanchardville and later worked for Michaels Pipeline Company for 24 years before retiring. Ron was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved playing cards.
Ronald is survived by one brother, Bernard (Judith) Cleary of Waunakee, and 1 sister Agnes (Werner) Ryser of Blanchardville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father in 1971, and his mother in 1981.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville. Fr. Thomas Gillespie will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery with veteran's honors by the Dobson-Johnson American Legion Post. A visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
