Shawn Loren Burreson

Shawn Loren Burreson, age 51 of Montello, formerly of Blanchardville died on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1959 in Monroe to James & June (Schroeder) Burreson. Shawn's family lived in Argyle and Blanchardville where he attended school. He graduated from the Pecatonica Area High School in Blanchardville in 1977. He graduated from the Southwest Tech school in Fennimore where he studied meat cutting. Shawn lived in Florida for a time where he worked at Disneyworld, the highlight of which was portraying "Goofy". He lived in California for 10 years where he and his family owned and operated Burreson's Deli. Shawn was married on February 18, 1990 in Reno, Nevada to Darci Piercy. They then returned to Wisconsin and lived in New Glarus where he and his family owned and operated Burreson's Bar and Grill. In 1996 the family sold the bar and grill and he moved to Blanchardville where his family purchased a grocery store, which they named Burreson's Foods. Shawn worked with his family in the grocery store until 2003 when he and his family moved to Montello where they purchased and operated Burreson's Bayview Resort until 2006. Shawn loved working outside in his yard, spending time with his wife, children and family, his dogs, fishing, horseshoes and traveling with his family. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Shawn is survived by his wife of 20 years, Darci Burreson of Montello; three children, Jon Burreson (special friend Shandi) of Monroe, and Shawna Burreson and Kyle Burreson, both at home in Montello; and four siblings, Dennis (Mary Jo) Burreson of Orland, California, Diane (Ron) Waage of Argyle, Leon Burreson (special friend Deb) of Frisco, Texas, Darin (Jodie) Burreson of Blanchardville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and June Burreson; his paternal grandparents, Carl & Tillie (Severson) Burreson; and his maternal grandparents, Ed and Fern (Peterson) Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, November 17, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
