Stella Cordelia Gilbertson, age 93 of Bloomfield Manor in rural Dodgeville, formerly of Hollandale, died on Friday afternoon, March 26, 2010 at Bloomfield Manor. She was born on May 14, 1916 in rural Argyle, Green County, Wisconsin to Carl & Sigrid Gilbertson. She grew up in rural Argyle, and attended rural school in the area. She worked on the farm with her parents until she was married on September 29, 1941 in Missouri to Myrto Gilbertson. They farmed in the Argyle, Blue Mounds, and the Mount Horeb areas. In 1963 they moved to Hollandale and in 1964 started a white washing business. She loved cooking for her family, gardening, going to garage sales, and playing Scrabble and cards. She was a past member of the Adams Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. Stella is survived by one son, Larry (Gloria) Gilbertson of Lamont; two daughters, Carolyn Wood of Verona, and Cynthia Gilbertson of Hollandale; a daughter-in-law, Jeanie Gilbertson of Hollandale; two brothers, Burnell Gilberson of Cable, and Victor (Edie) Gilbertson of Monroe; one sister, Sally (Roy) Davis of Madison; nine grandchildren, Ann(Erv) Loest of Waupun, Irene (Terry) Cooper of Reedsburg, Sara (Todd) Ihm of Hollandale, Brenda Gilbertson of Sun Prairie, Morgan Gilbertson of Madison, Pamela (Roy) Hardt of Darlington, Tony Gilbertson and Tim Gilbertson, both of Lamont; and Kim (Matt) Chitwood of Dodgeville; nineteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Myrto who died on June 16, 1998; two sons, Merlin who died in 1952 and Keith who died in 2001; three grandsons, Scott and Michael Wood and Wesley Gilbertson; and five siblings, Magnil Johnson, Esther Gilbertson, Orville Gilbertson, Alice Denny, Vernus Gilbertson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Adams Lutheran Church in rural Argyle on highway A. Rev. John Shep will officiate. Burial will be in the Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call for a visitation on Monday evening, March 29, 2010 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
