Thomas LeRoy Olson "TLO", age 72 of Blanchardville died on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, peacefully at his home. He was born December 10, 1941 in Monroe to Vernus & Irene (Dearth) Olson. He grew up in the Blanchardville and Waldwick areas. He attended school in the Waldwick, Pleasant Ridge and Farmer rural schools, Blanchardville Grade School and graduated from the Blanchardville High School in the class of 1961. When he was a senior in high school he purchased a 168 acre farm near Yellowstone Lake and began his life farming and working in agriculture. He was married on September 22, 1962 to Sharon Elaine Hermanson. Together they farmed "The Little Ponderosa" until they moved to Blanchardville in January of 1982. He drove a milk truck for Zim's Cheese for 10 years and Roelli's for 1 year. He tested milk for Green County DHIA for a time, and then he began delivering bulk feed for Quad County Co-Op and most recently for Premier Co-Op for the last 21 years. Tom also delivered the Sunday Wisconsin State Journal for around 15 years. He oversaw the York Township recycling center in Postville for 15 years. Tom was a hard worker his whole life, until his health declined this last October. He loved working outside and fixing and building things. Tom was a member of the Yellowstone Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and married, and was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a huge Atlanta Braves fan, enjoying watching them and attending a few games. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who loved going to his childrens' and grandchildrens' school and sporting events. In his younger years he was a great football player, and was voted most valuable player his Junior year, and team captain his senior year. He loved playing fast pitch softball and bowling. He was a regular at having breakfast and playing cards at Husie's in Blanchardville. He will forever be loved and missed.

Tom is survived by three children, Tammy (Brad) Burnett of Blanchardville, Randy Olson of Minneapolis, MN, and Shane (Errin) Olson of Monroe; 14 grandchildren, Kelli (Terry) Aide, Jamie (Brandon) Berget, Brandon Burnett, Brittany (Lee) Tyson, Matthew Wilson, Melody Burnett, Kyle Olson, Haylie Olson, Ashleigh Olson, Timothy Olson, Jonathan Olson, Emilee Olson, Nathan Olson, and Lily Olson; 9 great-grandchildren, MaKayla, Bentley, Riley, Gavin, MaKenzie, Aurora, Kayleigh, Lexi, & Brayson; One sister, JoAnn (Bill Swart) Schober of Platteville; two brothers, Rodney (Vicki) Olson of Blanchardville, and David (Marita) Olson of Blanchardville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary (Marilyn) Hermanson, Beverly (Larry) Ryan, Shelly (Pat) Leonard, Steve (Tina) Hermanson, and John Hermanson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon who died on June 26, 1995; his daughter Cheryl who died on Nov 11, 1991; mother & father in law, Gaylord & Mavis (Skattum) Hermanson; sister Janice Paulson; brother-in-laws, Marvin Paulson and David Schober; sister-in-law Marsha (Goldthorpe) Olson; nephews Timothy Schober, Jeremy Olson and Cody Olson; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Phillips.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 4:00 until 9:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville (4472 Saints Road) . Rev. Dan Bohlman will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville.
