W. Wayne Chambers

July 16, 1927 — July 14, 2010

W. Wayne Chambers, age 82 died on Wednesday evening, July 14, 2010 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on July 16, 1927 in Darlington to Murle & Tina (Ward) Chambers. He attended school in Darlington. He lived in the Fayette, Darlington and Hollandale areas for most of his life. He was active in farming, was an accomplished carpenter, and owned many businesses in his lifetime. He was married to Dorothy Mollrud in 1944. He moved to northern Wisconsin later in life. Wayne was an avid hunter. He loved fishing, and riding four wheelers and snowmobiles on the northern Wisconsin trails. Wayne is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Dick) Kelly of Fort Atkinson; three siblings, Dean Chambers of Ashland, Meredith (Fritz) Knudson of Dixon, Illinois, and Margie (Buck) Walls of Monticello; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Chambers of Hollandale; 4 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 5 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Beth Grimes, and a son Peter Chambers. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 31 2010 at 11:00 AM at the New Glarus Home Chapel. Rev. Lawrence Balleine of the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello will officiate. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
