Anne Marie (Bratrud Kampfer) Emberson age 78 of Blanchardville died on Friday October 27th, 2023, at UW Hospital in Madison. Anne was born in Valdres Norway to Harold and Sigrid Bratrud on July 17, 1945. Along with her parents and one uncle they immigrated to the United States in 1947 after World War II. Being very young she picked up the English language very quickly as well as her native language, Norwegian. Thus, helping translate later in life to her parents. She attended the Biggs Country school for all eight grades. She attended the Argyle Highschool. She worked as a CNA, a waitress, and telephone operator. As an only child she was very strong-willed, and bullheaded and did things her way. But she had the faith of God and respect for her parents.
In 1963 she married James Norbert Kampfer Sr. From the marriage were born two boys, James Norbert Jr. in 1964 and Skott Harold in 1965. They later divorced and in 1967 Anne married Robert Lee Emberson. Of this union 3 boys were born. Jeffery in 1967, Dale in 1969 and Mark in 1976.
Through the years she still worked as a CNA, waitressing, and bartending. As her parents grew older, she helped take care of them. She was a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent for a few years and led the Junior Choir at Adams Lutheran Church. Anne belonged to the Adams Homemakers, Son’s of Norway 513, and Pecatonica Bowlers. She has always lived in the Argyle, Blanchardville & Monroe area.
Anne owned Annie’s Hitching Post in Blanchardville for 9 years during the 1990s. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at Husie’s for Coffee and at the Co-op Oil Convenience Store and Emberson’s Market.
Anne is survived by her four sons, James (Michlle Jones) Kampfer of Blanchardville, Jeff Emberson of San Antonio, Texas, Dale (Patty) Emberson of Lodi, and Mark Emberson of Blanchardville; eleven grandchildren, Justin, Dillin, Kolten, Arinna, Castiel, Mckenna, Anissa, Courtney, Kyle (Kylie), Macy, and Alex; three great grandchildren, Aleigha, Marcel and Crew. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Skott who died in 2020.
A visitation for Anne will be held on Sunday, November 5th, 2023 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Blanchard Hall in Blanchardville, 206 S. Main Street. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 6th, 2023 at Adams Lutheran N7148 Cty Rd A, Argyle. The service will be live cast for the public on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page. Rev. Erich Hartenberger will officiate. Burial will be in the Adams Lutheran Cemetery in rural Argyle. A funeral lunch will follow at the church. Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.
