"Don" Donald Zeal Obituary

Donald “Don” Roy Zeal, age 65, of Lake Summerset, IL, formerly of Blanchardville, WI died on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, as a result of a boating accident on Labor Day.  He was born April 14, 1955 in Freeport, IL to Allen and Joyce (Downs) Zeal.  He attended grade school in Juda until sixth grade when his family moved to rural Blanchardville.   He graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1973.  He was married on May 4, 1974 in Blanchardville at the Immaculate Conception Church to Catherine Thompson.  They farmed for a few years before he worked for Wick Buildings, Trumpy Cheese and CMZ Buildings.  For the last 25 years he was an Elite Salesman at Cleary Buildings.  In earlier years he was active on the Blanchardville Village Board, Blanchardville Fire & EMS, and Mazomanie EMS.  In his spare time, he enjoyed driving school bus.  They had a son Donald S. Zeal and daughter Danyel J Zeal Cassidy.  Donald and Catherine divorced in 1999.  On February 19, 2000 he married Lynn Marie Sutcliffe in the Bahamas.  Lynn had two children from a previous marriage, Eric and Amy.  They lived in IL, WI and for the last six years they lived in Lake Summerset in Davis, IL.

Don enjoyed spending time working with his brother Ron on “side jobs”, boating especially with Barb & Russ Wirth, running, watching his grandkids play sports, and spending time with family and friends.  He was an avid Badger Fan and loved wearing red when he could.  Don was a selfless person who always put the interest and wellbeing of others before himself.

Don is survived by his wife Lynn of Davis/Lake Summerset, IL; two children Donald (Nancy) Zeal of Janesville, and Danyel (Ryan) Cassidy of Mount Horeb; stepson Eric Sutcliffe (Kristi Coy) of Evansville; step-daughter Amy Dehm (Kurt Warmbir) of Clifton, IL; mother Joyce Zeal of Warren, IL; and eight grandchildren Kiersten Cassidy, Brandon Cassidy, Katelyn Zeal, Tyler Zeal, Kenzi Dehm, Jade Warmbir, Jared Coy and AJ Sutcliffe; three sisters Lynn Block of Monroe, Barb (Russ) Wirth of Davis/Lake Summerset, IL, and Deanna (Dave) Wright of Gratiot; four brothers, Ron (Lorie) Zeal of Juda, Tom (Chris) Zeal of Monticello, Sam (Jane) Zeal of Monroe, and Rich Zeal of Gratiot.  He was preceded in death by his father Allen Zeal and his brother in law Russ Block.
