Doris Myrtle Larson, age 88 of Blanchardville died on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She was the daughter of James and Ethel (Youngren) Bennett, she was born on August 1, 1933 in Monroe. Doris grew up on a rural Argyle dairy farm with her parents and younger brother Clinton, and graduated from Argyle High School in 1951. She grew up with a special love for all the farm animals she tended, as well as her many cats and dogs. Doris many times referred to herself as “just a little ol’ farm girl from Argyle, Wisconsin”. She moved to Blanchardville in 1969, purchasing a home where she raised her six children.
Through the years she worked as a waitress in many of the finest supper clubs in Mount Horeb, Monroe and New Glarus, retiring at the age of 77. She enjoyed meeting new people and worked very hard to provide for herself and especially her six children. Doris was a very kind, loving soul who enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, nurturing her children, and cooking large meals for her friends and family.
Doris is survived by her six children, Richard of Wisconsin Rapids, Diane (Mike Scott) of Blanchardville, Donald (Gini) of Ingleside, Texas, David (Jackie) of Wiota, Daniel (Kristine) of Argyle, and Darlene of Verona; five wonderful and beautiful granddaughters, including Tonya (Kevin) Backes of Mineral Point, Rachel (Adam) Andrews of Belmont, Jessica (Hector) Velasquez of Argyle, Jamie Larson of Argyle, and Samantha (Chris) Larson-Crooks of Milton; and great-grandchildren Abigail & Evelyn Backes, Morgan & Jose’ Velasquez, and Scarlett & Hudson Andrews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her younger brother Clinton, and Eunice Mae – an older sister who died in infancy.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Lorna Belsky and Dr. Daniel Mulkerin of UW-Health, and the staff of Pleasant View Nursing and Rehab for their care for Doris in her final years.
