Erik Bredeson Obituary

Erik Adam Bredeson, age 44 of Blanchardville died early Wednesday morning, January 20, 2021 as the result of an auto accident.  Erik was born on March 14, 1976 in Madison to Marlin Max and Maureen Elizabeth (Cleary) Bredeson.  Erik grew up in Blanchardville and attend the Pecatonica area grade and High School.  While at Pecatonica High School he was an outstanding athlete, playing football, basketball, baseball and track.  He graduated in 1994.  He drove truck for the Department of Corrections, State of Wisconsin, and then worked at Anderson Custom Processing in Belleville for many years.  In recent years he was driving for Uber.

On Sunday, August 11, 2019, Erik married the love of his life, Becca Prestbroten, at the State Capitol, and began their life together, sharing their love of adventure.  They both loved to travel and shared trips to Nashville, the Smoky Mountains, and out west for their honeymoon.  Erik would surprise Becca with trips everywhere.  These adventures started with the Field of Dreams and concerts such as Willie Nelson, KISS, Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Bob Seger, and Sawyer Brown….and Cherry Pie and The Other Brothers!  Even though Erik was a Dallas Cowboys fan, they both shared the love of the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks.  They attended a Packer game at Lambeau Field and even traveled to Minneapolis for one!  They loved their time at Elkhart Lake, Lake Wisconsin, and the Mississippi River. Their Sunday drives - just get in the vehicle and see where the road took them.  No special places to go, just the time spent together.  They seemed to end up at wineries!  They were just starting to build their life together, moving into Erik’s Grandma’s house in Blanchardville, dreaming of their future together.  Their dreams broken with the tragic loss of Erik, the love of Becca’s life.  Their memories together will be held in her heart forever.

Erik also loved traveling out west, and to England once.  He loved animals and often looked after strays.  He was always there for his friends and family, and had a heart of gold.  He would do anything anyone needed.  He had a great sense of humor and had many fun “smart” comments to make people laugh.  He was out loving life.

Erik is survived by his wife, Becca Bredeson of Blanchardville; his parents, Marlin and Maureen Bredeson of Blanchardville; one sister, Andrea Bredeson of Verona; mother & father inlaw, Robert and Maureen Prestbroten of Blanchardville; two nephews, Chace Bredeson and Alexander O’Brien; two brothers-in-law, Jamie Prestbroten of Madison and Jesse Prestbroten of Mount Horeb; two sisters-in-law, Amy (Scott) White of Mount Horeb and Teri (Travis) Gilbertson of Belleville; two nieces and a nephew Taya and Talon Gilbertson and Ashlyn White; aunt Marilyn (Bart) Mandurano of Blanchardville; uncle, Robert Cleary of Pecos, New Mexico; aunt Kathryn Cleary of Pecos, New Mexico; and very proud god-father to Katelyn Zeal, Hannah Hegland, Chace Bredeson and Alexander O’Brien; and many lifelong good friends.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lorraine Cleary (Hastrich) and Melvin and Mary Lou (McCabe) Bredeson.
