She attended rural school, and then graduated from high school in Lake Geneva. As a young woman she moved to Monroe with her sister Margaret, where they worked at the hospital. While living there she enjoyed going to dances and met Gilbert Presbroten who was an accordion player for the Rhythm Ramblers polka band. They were married on May 21, 1948 in Lake Geneva. They purchased the family farm and bought the Gulhaug farm in 1963. They continued farming with their family through the years. Trudy was a member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church and the Women of the ELCA. She was also a charter member with her husband Gilbert, of the Sons of Norway, Vennelag 513 in Mount Horeb. She and Gilbert traveled to Norway twice. In addition to traveling around with Gilbert for him to play accordion, piano, and organ for different music groups, Trudy and Gilbert also loved going out dancing. She loved sewing, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and gardening.
Trudy is survived by her three children, Duane and Dennis Presbroten, both of rural Hollandale; Beverly (Dan) Schutte of Monroe; three step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
