Helen Cecilia Merrison, age 90 of Bloomfield Manor of rural Dodgeville, formerly of Hollandale, died on Sunday morning, January 23, 2022 at Bloomfield Manor. She was born on February 2, 1931 in New Jersey to Robert Alexander & Helen Cecilia (Farley) Jennings. She attended school and graduated from high school there. She was married on February 20, 1954 in New Jersey to Harold James Merrison. They lived in New Jersey for 17 years until 1971 when they moved to Hollandale where they lived in a farmhouse. She raised her seven children in that farmhouse, along with working for Argyle Industries, the Mineral Point school, Cobb Canning, and her last job was Stauffer’s Cheese Company in Blue Mounds until “retirement” when she cleaned at local bars and volunteered cleaning the church. In 1985 they moved into Hollandale. Helen loved her family. She loved family gatherings, especially bonfires. She enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Helen loved crocheting, making many blankets and quilts for her family. She also loved doing word searches and volunteering at church.
Helen is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Merrison of Bloomfield Manor in rural Dodgeville; seven children, Violet (Dale) Austin of Arthur, Terri (Jack) Fitzsimons of Darlington, Harold (Dawn) Merrison of Belford, New Jersey, Colleen (Roger) Mayne of Montfort, Kathleen Merrison of Rewey, Helen (Gerry) Erickson of Monroe, Dennis (Jennifer) Merrison of Lone Rock; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and 1great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings Joe, Bob, Charlie, Tom, Anna and Theresa; and a grandchild Austin who died in May of 2016.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hollandale. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. The service will be live cast for the public on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page.

Fr. Michael Johnson of St. Isidore Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in rural Hollandale. A funeral lunch will be held for those who wish to join the family for lunch back at the church. Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.
