Isabel (Disrud) Dobson

Isabel Disrud Dobson, age 94 formerly of Blanchardville died Wednesday evening, December 30, 2020, at Azura Memory Care in Monroe, WI. She was born April 28, 1926, to Oscar and Inga (Kittleson) Disrud and joined four sisters (the “Disrud girls”) on the family farm in Kittleson Valley, rural Blanchardville. She attended Meadowview Rural School, Blanchardville Elementary and High Schools, graduating in 1944. After high school she helped her father at the Gamble Store in Blanchardville, and later moved to Madison and worked at Farmers Mutual Insurance. On June 1, 1950, she married Herbert “Herbie” Dobson. When her children were older she worked at Dobson’s Bar for many years. She was a member of Blanchardville United Methodist Church, the Legion Auxiliary, a 500 card club that met for over 50 years, and a bowling league with friends for many years.  She loved her family, cooking, and Blanchardville.

Isabel is survived by her children: Patti (Jerry) Casselberry, Monroe, WI; Tom (Lynn) Dobson, Blanchardville, WI; and Pam (Shane) Moen, Lake Mills, WI; 8 grandchildren: Beth Casselberry, Sara Casselberry (Jim Curran), Amy (John) Anderson; Jenna (Mike) Wickizer, Beau (Andrea) Dobson; Turner, Collin, and Adam Moen; 4 great grandchildren: Cora Curran, Johnny and Harry Anderson, and Diego Dobson; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters: Arlene (Parnell) Hamilton, Alta (Julian) Olson, Inez (Robert) Watrud, and Carol (Lincoln) Barber, and sister-in-law Phyllis (Larry) Bredeson.

Due to the COVID pandemic, funeral services held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 will be private.  Isy’s nephew and Godson, Ron Watrud will lead the service.  Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville.  Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.  Memories and condolences can be shared with the family at saetherfuneralservice.com.

In lieu of flowers, Isy would have appreciated memorials to the Blanchardville/Pecatonica Alumni Association, the Village of Blanchardville Park Fund, or the Blanchardville United Methodist Church.
