Laura "Lolly" Irene (Larson) Johnson

Laura “Lolly” Irene Johnson, age 82 of the New Glarus Home, formerly a life-long resident of the Blanchardville area, died on Monday evening, November 22, 2021 at the New Glarus Home.  She was born on January 3, 1939 to Palmer John and Cindy Oveda (Olson) Larson.  She attended school in Blanchardville, graduating in 1957 from Blanchardville High School.  She married Walter H. Johnson on February 22, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanchardville.  They farmed in the Argyle township while raising 4 children.  Lolly worked at the Bit of Norway restaurant, was a teacher assistant at Pecatonica Elementary School, and also worked later in life at Lands End.  In 1987 they moved into Blanchardville.  She enjoyed having her grandchildren around daily.  She always enjoyed going to coffee hour with the ladies.  On Sundays or anytime the Home Talent Bullets Baseball team played she would watch them.  Lolly was a member of the ladies Auxiliary of the Dobson-Johnson-Gallagher American Legion Post in Blanchardville, and New Hope Lutheran in Blanchardville and Hollandale.  She golfed, was a part of the Yellowstone Homemakers group, was a part of the local “Red Hat” group, and traveled to Las Vegas and other places. 

Lolly is survived by her 4 children, Jane (Silvan) Blum of Monticello, John (Cindy) Johnson of Mineral Point, James Johnson of Blanchardville, and Bill (Connie) Johnson of Hollandale; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter who died on May 29, 1998; three brothers, Vernus Larson, DeLyle Olson and Larry Larson; three sister in laws, Patricia Olson, Sharon Larson and Maxine Dimick; and a granddaughter, Jessica Rains.

A visitation for Lolly will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12:30 PM at Blanchard Hall at 204 South Main Street in Blanchardville.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at Blanchard Hall.  The service will be livestreamed on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/saetherfuneralservice.  Burial will follow in the Old York Cemetery in rural Blanchardville.  A funeral lunch will follow back at Blanchard Hall.  Saether Funeral Service of Blanchardville is assisting the family.  Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at saetherfuneralservice.com.
