The family of Lloyd Friske regrets to announce that due to the illness of multiple people in the family, funeral services for Lloyd have been changed to a private burial which took place Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville.
Lloyd Glen Friske, age 93, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. He was born the son of Rudy and Esther Friske on September 13, 1928, in Kendall, WI.
Lloyd began his career working at Oscar Mayer in Madison and then eventually moved to Mt Horeb where he went into partnership on a bulk milk route. Later he bought his own bulk milk route and continued to haul milk for 40 years. Lloyd always spoke so highly of the farm families he hauled for. He even joked that the farm dogs liked him. He always had good stories to tell about his milk hauling years.
In 1984, he married the love of his life, Virginia Olson Nyhus in a chapel at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, Nevada where they enjoyed many trips together.
After Lloyd retired in 1990, he started doing solid oak crafts. He continued this love of woodworking for 25 years and he made many special friends along the way. In his free time Lloyd enjoyed many things. He enjoyed vacationing to many western states, going for drives in the country while listening to his favorite country and western music and eating out. He loved spending time playing games on the computer, watching game shows and working on word find books. Irma’s Kitchen was his favorite stop, and he rarely missed a week for their famous French toast.
In 2008, Lloyd and Virgina sold their home in Mt. Horeb to build their dream home in Argyle so that they could be closer to family. Together they babysat their great-grandchildren Blake, Mason, Mya and Brynlee. Lloyd absolutely adored those kids, and he was even Mason and Mya’s godfather. He never missed a birthday party, holiday, eating lunch or concert with the kids at school or an opportunity to play school with his great-granddaughter Mya. He spent countless hours taking them to swimming lessons, gymnastics, ball games, lunch at McDonalds, trips to the Dollar Store, picnics at the park or just lunch on a blanket by the sandbox. He could also be found taking the kids for a walk around the block with their bikes. Lloyd was so patient, and kind and you would often find him sitting around a table with the kids putting together a puzzle or playing a game.
Even on Hospice, Lloyds final year of life was filled with so much love and happiness. The selfless commitment his wife and daughter Regina made out of love and compassion to care for him around the clock was what was able to keep him in his own home up until his final day. The extended family is all forever grateful for Virginia and Regina’s care for Lloyd, along with Hospice and Home Health. Lloyds last year on earth was as perfect as it could be. He was happy, comfortable and so very loved.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Virginia at home; three step-daughters, Regina Nyhus, Rhonda (Jim) Schlafli and Renee (Rob) Slack; four sons; six grandchildren, Jada (Bryan) Krahenbuhl, Rachel Maske, Rick (Julie) Naujeck, Sheila (Al) Miller, Brian (Diane) Schlafli and Keith (Heather) Schlafli; eleven great grandchildren, Blake, Mason and Mya McNett, Brynlee and Emberly Krahenbuhl, Claudia and Dawson Miller, Karter, Griffin, Chelsea and Sawyer Schlafli. He was preceded in death by 1 son, 1 grandson, his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
