Margaret Rose Hanson, age 78 of Sienna Crest in Mineral Point, formerly of Blanchardville died on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Sienna Crest after a short battle with breast cancer. She was born on July 24, 1942 in Sunderland, County Durham, England to Ephraim & Ann (Watson) Jobling. She grew up and attended grade school in Sunderland, and then when she was 10, the family moved to Weaverham, Cheshire County where she finished her schooling and graduated from 1 year of business college. She worked for Imperial Chemical Industries in Winnington until July of 1962. She was married on November 18, 1961 in Weaverham, Cheshire County to Donald Gilbertson. They moved to the United States in November of 1962 and lived in Altus, Oklahoma while Don was in the Air Force. In September of 1965 they moved to the area, and soon after began farming near Barneveld. She attended classes and became a United States Citizen in the summer of 1971. In 1972 they purchased a farm outside Blanchardville and lived there until 1989 when they were divorced. From that marriage there were four children, Sharon, Cherie, Donald and Timothy. Margaret then moved to Blanchardville. On June 26, 1993 she married Gaylord Hanson at the Blanchardville Lutheran Church. She worked early on for some years at the Don Q Inn, then for the Stauffer Cheese Factory in Blue Mounds for almost 10 years, worked for Dr. Lynn Randall the dentist in Blanchardville, then for Central Life Insurance in Madison for over 15 years, and then at the Window Design Center in Madison for 10 years. She was a member of the Blanchardville Lutheran Church, and was an avid gardener. She also loved knitting and the many trips to northern Wisconsin to Gaylord’s cousin’s cabin.
Margaret is survived by four children, Sharon Parkos of Barneveld, Cherie (Ron) Kurschner of Blanchardville, Donald (Linda) Gilbertson of Winslow, Illinois, and Tim (Lauren) Gilbertson of Platteville; 16 grandchildren, Arielle, Briana, Austin, Taylor, Sydney, Jeff, Rachel, Chelsea, Milton, Derek, Deidre, Jake, Caleb, Bethanie, Caitlyn, and Tristen; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gaylord Hanson who died on May 14, 2017; two brothers, George and Michael Jobling; and one sister, Mary Palmer.

A visitation for Margaret observing social distancing and the wearing of masks if you are able will be held on Saturday afternoon, August 8, 2020 from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at Blanchard Hall, 204 South Main Street in Blanchardville. A private funeral service will follow which will also be livestreamed on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page.
