Marselino Miranda Obituary

Marselino Miranda, age 78 of Blanchardville, formerly of the Chicago area, died on Monday afternoon, February 26, 2024 at the William S. Middleton Veteran’s Hospital in Madison.  He was born on September 17, 1945 in Cotulla, Texas to Refugia and Marcelino Miranda.  His early years were in Texas, and then the family moved to Racine, Wisconsin, and then moved to Chicago when he was around 13.  Marselino worked on farms, and in a tannery.  Marselino served his country in the US Army serving in Vietnam.  After returning from service he began working for the Chicago Transit Authority as a bus driver, then supervisor and then worked his way up to superintendent.  On June 27, 1980 he married the sweetheart of his life, Carole Lynn Karlberg in Chicago.  They lived in Chicago, and eventually had one son, Michael Miranda.  Marselino retired from the CTA until the mid-1990’s.  He returned to work for a time as a site supervisor in security at a company in Franklin Park, Illinois.  Around 2001 the family moved to rural Blanchardville.  While living in Blanchardville Marselino worked at Ederer’s Hardware in Blanchardville for about 5 years, and then for the Mount Horeb Cooperative Do-It Best Hardware Store for around 5 years.  He was a member of the Blanchardville Fire Department where he served the community and made many friends.  He also volunteered for the SUN program delivering meals on wheels.  He enjoyed taking care of his home, yard and his dogs and animals.  Marselino had a very generous heart and enjoyed helping his family, friends and neighbors.

Marselino is survived by his wife Carole Miranda of Blanchardville; his son Michael (Spring) Miranda of Burr Ridge, Illinois; six grandchildren, Destiny, Donovan, Nathaniel, Logan, Jeyda, and Cheylah; four sisters, Delia Moreno, Linda Miranda, Gloria Castillo, and Lupe Miranda.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charlie Miranda; and a nephew Bobby Moreno.
