Rebecca Marie Doran

Rebecca Marie Doran, age 40 of Blanchardville died on Tuesday morning, February 9, 2021 at her home in Blanchardville.  She was born on May 16, 1980 in Madison to Martin John & Sandra Kay (Syftestad) Doran.  Rebecca grew up in rural Blanchardville and went to the Pecatonica grade and high schools, graduating in 1999.  While in high school she found her lifelong love and talent for music.  On a high school trip she sang at Disney World in Florida, and had the honor of getting on stage and singing with Shania Twain in Rockford at a concert in October of 1998.  Following high school, she attended MATC in Madison studying music, and spent some years pursuing vocal music.  She was the lead singer in Wildheart, a country rock band in the Madison area, and won the Madison Area Country Music Award as the female vocalist of the year.  She also worked for John Deere Credit, and the Fitchburg Animal Hospital & Waggin’ Tails which fit her great love of animals.  She later moved to Florida and worked for a home health company.  In 2017 she moved back to Wisconsin to be with her friend and fiancé Mark Emberson.  She worked with animals again when in Wisconsin and loved being close to her family and friends again, but always missed Florida, the beach and the warmth.

Rebecca is survived by her fiancé, Mark Emberson and his two children Macy and Alex of Blanchardville; her parents, Marty & Sandy Doran of rural Blanchardville; two brothers, Thomas (Allyshia Truong) Doran of Monroe and Sean Doran of Platteville; her maternal grandmother, Ann Syftestad of Blanchardville; four beloved nieces and nephews, Blake, Decklin, Dawsynn and Daislynn; and aunts, uncles cousins and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ron and Hazel Doran, maternal grandfather Larry Syftestad; and an uncle, Pat Doran.  She greatly also missed her dogs, her “babies” Tessa and Finley.

A walk-through visitation with brief visiting with the family due to the COVID pandemic, wearing of masks and social distancing required, will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 1:00 until 4:00 PM at Blanchard Hall on Main Street in Blanchardville.  A private funeral will be held earlier at 11:00 AM
